Steamed Tilapia with pickled mango ensalada


Catch of the day: Steamed Milkfish served with a twist - pickled mango ensalada for a burst of tropical flavors! 🌴🐟🥭


Ingredients:

Steamed Tilapia
  • 1 large tilapia

  • 1 tbsp fish sauce

  • 1 chopped onion

  • 3 pcs chopped tomatoes

  • ½ tbsp ginger juice

  • 1 cup Pik-a-Pikel pickled mango brine for steaming

  • 1 banana leaf

  • 5 cups of water

Mango Ensalada
  • 1 cup Pik-a-Pikel pickled mango

  • 5 tbsp boneless fish paste

  • 5 pcs chopped tomatoes

  • 1 pc chopped onion

Procedure:

Steamed Tilapia
  1. Clean fish then rub salt and ginger juice.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine onion and tomatoes then add salt and ground pepper to taste.

  3. Place tomato mixture into the cavity of the tilapia. Season fish with salt and ground pepper.

  4. Wrap the tilapia with banana leaf and let it steam for 15 to 25 minutes over a pan with the mixture of Pik-a-Pikel pickled mango brine and water.

Pickled Mango Ensalada
  1. Combine chopped Pik-a-Pikel pickled mango, onion, and tomato in a bowl.

  2. Season with fish paste.

  3. Toss until all the ingredients are well blended.

  4. Serve alongside the Steamed Tilapia
